Damien Hardwick who coached the Richmond Tigers to 3 premierships, stepped away from the Tigers earlier this season, and after a brief break from the game he returns with a six-year deal to coach the Gold Coast Suns.

The Suns have been searching for a new permanent head coach since sacking Stuart Dew in July. Flan, Ali and Spida talk to Damien after yesterday’s exciting news.

“One of the deciding factors for me is, I would love nothing more than to be a part of their first premiership team”.

Damien says, “I think a lot of the heaving lifting has been done within the Gold Coast Suns”. Asking the Gold Coast public and supporters “if you can jump on board, and show us your support, we’d really appreciate it cause I’m sure we’ll pay you back in spades”.

It's been 50 years since the Vietnam War. Flan, Ali and Spida had the honour to be joined by Vietnam Veteran Chris Madden. Chris has received an Order of Australia which honours his service to Australia. This award recognises people whose actions have made a significant impact in our society with only 140 people awarded an AO each year.  

Chris tells his story about how he joined the war, saying “I was a teacher in a one teacher school in the bush, and a postman walked in and he said you’re in trouble. He handed me an envelope and when I opened it, it said you’re conscripted to go to jail for two years or you go to the army for two years”.

Spida went down to the shops to buy some milk and bread with his adorable 18-month-old granddaughter Remi. When they got back to the house Spida noticed something Remi was holding… that Spida did not pay for!

Gold Coast surfing legend and former Triple M Beach and Surf Reporter Andy Mac joins Flan, Ali and Spida to talk about surfing etiquette on the Coast. 

Spida recently saw a sign down near Wollongong that said “Locals Only Blow-Ins Not Welcome” but he wasn’t sure if there are any beaches on the Gold Coast that have the same rules.

Andy says, “overcrowding is a huge problem for surfing at the moment” which is why they have induced a surf etiquette plan with the City of Gold Coast.

Flan, Ali and Spida are joined by Gold Coaster Dougie who is just pulling up to the Kirra bakery to get his breakfast of champions – a pie!

Producer Joolz aka KOOLZ performed her first band live performance on the Triple M Live & Loud stage last year. We hear from her about the opportunity it gave and how she encourages local bands and artists to register now for your opportunity to play this year.

Joolz says “it was a very thrilling and amazing opportunity for us” and “it was a really big door opener” for her as it was her first KOOLZ performance with her band.

Spida received a phone call from his wife Sheree to go around to their friend’s house to help and clean the fridge out after a Christmas in July function. He went to the house and the garage door was open, so he went straight to the fridge and cleaned it out so the food wouldn’t spoil.

Spida took everything out including cakes, biscuits, lamingtons, beers, and wine. He then receives a phone call from Sheree when he got home, she asks one question “Did you take the beer and wine as well?”

The Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has been cleared of all charges of sexual offenses against him in a court in London. The jury delivered the verdict of not guilty on all nine charges relating to four men, dating back to over a decade ago.

Last week Flan, Ali and Spida were doing a week of ‘Midlife Crisis’ experiences, including equine therapy, driving supercars, and breaking things in a rage cage. On Thursday a listener Paul called in and said he would like to experience a drag show, so the Triple M team made it happen. Spida went along with Paul to Dragalious Show in Surfers Paradise and they both spent hours getting their make-up done. When they were all done and dressed up they even had a dance on stage where Spida says “it was good, I enjoyed it, it was fantastic”.

Spida’s wife Sheree calls in as the Triple M team are keen to know her thoughts and straight away she says “oh my lord he looks better as a girl than he does a boy”

Stirling says the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth games did benefit the market however not as much as Mayor Tom Tate mentioned on the show yesterday “he talked about a figure of 3 billion dollars, but it was actually 2 billion dollars”
